Elastic Unveils AI-Era Metrics Platform, Claims Major Speed and Storage Gains

Elastic (NYSE: ESTC) unveiled an AI-era metrics platform during an investor call focused on observability, pitching it as a faster, more storage-efficient way to manage metrics alongside logs, traces, and other data on a unified system. Elastic said the offering launched in June near the start of its fiscal year after it re-architected Elasticsearch for metrics workloads. Baha Azarmi, General Manager of Observability, cited rising telemetry volumes from AI deployments, including monitoring LLM calls, GPU activity, retrieval-augmented generation queries, and AI agents. Elastic claims its metrics engine uses a column store built for high-cardinality data and benchmarked results of 30x faster than Prometheus and Mimir and 8x faster than ClickHouse. It also emphasized PromQL compatibility and plans for more observability announcements at ElasticON in New York on Oct. 8.
