Exclusive: Inside Trump's AI science summit
The White House says it will announce more than $1 billion in industry commitments tied to the Genesis Mission, as the Trump administration leans on private partners amid cuts to government funding for science R&D. The announcement includes commitments from companies such as AMD, OpenAI and Anthropic. Alongside the funding pledges, the White House will detail a compute hub spanning more than 14 institutions across 10 southeastern states and a separate $1 billion investment in Georgia aimed at student and faculty access to compute resources. The National Science Foundation and the Energy Department will also put more than $100 million toward AI-driven science tools. The summit will bring leading scientists and “innovators,” according to the White House, and is inspired by a July report from White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios. Genesis Mission launched last November with ambitious deadlines for accelerating discovery.
