Extraordinary suggestions of kidnapping as Fiorentina sign Christ Oulai
Fiorentina’s pursuit of Trabzonspor midfielder Christ Oulai took a different turn after reports emerged of unusual circumstances around the transfer. Serie A club Fiorentina had been working on the deal for weeks, and the agreement has now gone through on a permanent basis, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The report says Fiorentina agreed to pay around €30 million to secure the player’s signature, but the process was reportedly not straightforward. A well-known Turkish journalist claimed the midfielder was almost “kidnapped” for a few minutes while delegates were waiting for him at Istanbul airport after returning from the Ivory Coast following the World Cup. The circulating account says people posing as drivers convinced him to get into a vehicle, although the article adds that a trusted person of the player was in the other car checking the contract.
