Full list of the top 40 fish and chip shops in the UK 2027

The National Fish & Chip Awards has released its longlist for 2027, naming 40 fish-and-chip takeaways across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. With an estimated 10,500 shops in the UK serving up to 167 million meals a year, the awards aim to standardize quality across widely varying styles of batter, chips and service. After the longlist, judges will narrow the field to 20 and then 10 before announcing the overall winners at a ceremony in February. The judging panel will evaluate taste, product quality, hygiene, customer service, and environmental and operational sustainability, among other criteria. Categories include Restaurant of the Year, Young Fish Friar of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and the most coveted Takeaway of the Year.
