Get your Shark Week fix in DC

Shark Week-themed activities are heading to Washington, D.C., with the Washington Examiner promoting local venues and interactive experiences for people who want a shark-focused break even without the Discovery Channel. One stop is the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where a 52-foot megalodon model hangs above the Ocean Terrace Cafe, recreating a creature described as about three times the size of a modern great white. The exhibit uses 50-ton scale elements and references 6-inch teeth found nearby in the Potomac River. A bit north is Baltimore’s National Aquarium, offering access to eight shark species and potential feeding-time viewing, plus Shark Alley and Blacktip Reef exhibits.
