France’s path to a third straight World Cup semi-final stayed on track after a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Morocco on Thursday in Foxborough, Mass. Kylian Mbappe scored his eighth goal of the tournament in the 60th minute and later provided the assist for Ousmane Dembele’s 66th-minute strike. Mbappe had missed a first-half penalty, but recovered with a curling shot just inside the far post after Morocco failed to clear. He also left the pitch around the 76th minute following an injury scare to his right ankle, though he said after the match he was fine. Mbappe’s goal was his 20th World Cup career tally, one behind Lionel Messi, and France will face either Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals in Dallas on Tuesday.
