GOP Rep. Ogles: AI Fearmongering Akin to Global Warming, Killer Bees Scares

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) played down what he called AI “panic” dominating the news cycle, arguing that fears around artificial intelligence resemble past overreactions. Speaking on FBN’s “The Evening Edit” on Wednesday, the Tennessee Republican also warned that China could gain an advantage over the United States in AI. Ogles referenced earlier scare narratives such as “global warming” and “killer bees,” and said the space remains “somewhat of an unregulated” arena where a push for control is motivating some critics. He said Congress should avoid “stifling innovation,” pointing instead to ongoing hearings, roundtables and a public-private approach.
