Gov. Newsom climbs Golden Gate Bridge to sign his final bill
xCruzo Brief
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed what he described as his final bill by climbing the Golden Gate Bridge Tuesday afternoon, reaching the top of the San Francisco-side tower after putting on a plastic white helmet and harness. The stunt involved ascending the huge red cable with assistance from a security guard and bridge staff. Newsom said the workout was “legit.” The measure authorizes a bond for the March 2028 ballot allocating $7.5 billion for scientific research and was part of a year-end deadline to sign or veto legislation. Newsom used the bill to argue it would restore billions cut by Republicans, including President Donald Trump.
