Happy Birthday to Lisbon Lion, Bobby Lennox

Bobby Lennox, the Lisbon Lion and Celtic legend, is celebrating his 83rd birthday on August 30. Lennox scored 277 goals in 589 appearances for Celtic and was, until recently, the club’s most decorated player with 25 major honours. His tally includes 11 league titles, eight Scottish Cups, and five League Cups, plus the European Cup from the 1967 triumph over Inter Milan in Lisbon’s Estadio Nacional on May 25. Born in Saltcoats, he spent his life in the town aside from a six-month spell with Houston Hurricane in 1978. In cup football, he won the Scottish Cup eight times, highlighted by a 4-0 1969 win over Rangers at Celtic’s front.
