Health tech firm Craneware says customer and staff data stolen in cyber attack says the Edinburgh-based company was hit by a cyber incident in which hackers accessed and exfiltrated some customer and employee information. Craneware, a healthcare software provider used by thousands of U.S. hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, said a “significant volume” of file names was viewed and taken, and that a percentage of employee data plus a subset of customer and partner records were accessed. The firm stated that its initial assessment indicates much of the involved data is non-sensitive or already public regulatory information. It said the breach has been contained and has not disrupted customer services or operations, nor shows signs of compromising systems. Craneware notified the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and the FBI in the U.S. It partners with about 2,000 hospitals and health systems and 10,000 clinics and pharmacies via its Trisus cloud platform.
