ESPN’s Bobby Marks said the Cavaliers’ ability to reach certain salary-cap tools depends on James Harden’s next deal. Harden declined a $42.3 million player option for 2026-27, which could influence whether Cleveland can use the $3.9 million veterans minimum exception or the $6.1 million tax midlevel. Without Harden, Cleveland is $25.3 million below the first apron and $38 million under the second. Marks also said a trade of either Max Strus or Dennis Schroder could clear more than $6.1 million, with a Strus move viewed as a strong signal for LeBron’s arrival.
