Horrible": Shannon Sharpe Rips Arch Manning as Texas Blunder Costs Steve Sarkisian Dearly
Texas entered the Cotton Bowl as the No. 1 team but lost its first game of the season, falling 27-24 to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry as time expired on a 47-yard Tate Sandell field goal. Arch Manning’s two fourth-quarter interceptions were central to the turnaround, despite Texas totaling three touchdown passes from him. Shannon Sharpe criticized Manning after the game on “Nightcap,” calling one throw a pick-six and describing the other as a “horrible” decision that occurred when Texas was within field-goal range. Manning finished 19-of-31 for 260 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Texas also missed chances earlier, including a 53-yard attempt by Gianni Spetic. Oklahoma’s defense and special teams scored twice, including a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.
