Infrastructure, Not Ease of Use, Drives Gen Z Tourists' Travel App
A study based on nearly 400 young travelers in Bangladesh finds the strongest driver of Generation Z tourists’ intention to use smart tourism smartphone apps is not app usefulness or fun, but whether practical conditions are in place. “Facilitating conditions”—covering reliable internet connectivity, device compatibility, availability of apps, and access to technical support—outweighed other measured factors. Published as open access in Discover Analytics on 4 August 2026, the research integrates the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 with elements of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Data came from 399 cleaned responses collected online between February and April 2024. The authors warn that convenience sampling may over-represent people with better connectivity.
