The label appears to have spread among employees, even though earlier leaks suggested placeholder names such as “iPhone Fold” and “iPhone Duo,” with another report pointing to “iPhone Duo.” Gurman says the “Ultra” shorthand is common inside development teams ahead of an expected autumn unveiling, though Apple’s secrecy means it’s unclear whether it will become the official retail branding. Analysts note internal nicknames often don’t match what ends up on store packaging.
