Jon Ossoff condemns Hasan Piker's rhetoric as streamer declares mainstream media 'crisis of credibility'
Sen. Jon Ossoff, a Democrat from Georgia, condemned comments made by streamer Hasan Piker after Piker suggested that American Jews could invite violence upon themselves due to their perceived association with support for Israel. Ossoff, speaking through a spokesperson, said he “unreservedly rejects reckless and dangerous rhetoric” implying that policy advocacy invites violence against the Jewish community—or any community. He added that American Jews and all Americans must be able to speak and petition without fear of reprisal. Piker responded by claiming a media “credibility crisis,” and appeared to suggest Ossoff belonged to a “bought & sold political class.” The exchange followed a series of condemnations from multiple Democratic lawmakers.
