Kid Rock was not actually banned from California, despite viral claims. The controversy appears to stem from a social media post earlier this year by California Governor Gavin Newsom shared on X. Newsom’s account said, in all caps, that he was “officially banning ‘KID ROCK’ FROM CALIFORNIA,” citing the singer’s “shirtless video with ‘Secretary Brainworm’” as inappropriate and “creepy,” and mocking working out in jeans. The post was widely understood as trolling. Kid Rock had previously shared a shirtless workout video in jeans with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., aiming to encourage activity and “real food.”
