MakinaRocks Optimizes Samsung Display Vietnam's AI Control
MakinaRocks says it will collaborate with Samsung Display’s Vietnam factory to optimize AI-based equipment control, aiming to apply the solution to mass production lines by year-end. The partnership follows a proof of concept completed in the first half of the year. The company explains that manufacturing equipment is controlled by PLCs, small controllers that store command codes. Over time, new product changes can accumulate commands over decades, pushing PLC memory to capacity and limiting space for additional logic, including reasoning using large language models. MakinaRocks and Samsung Display plan an AI PLC control approach using LLMs to analyze code, identify unused or duplicate commands, and free memory without halting operations or replacing equipment.
