Max Verstappen Just Beat 100 Kart Racers
xCruzo Brief
Max Verstappen returned to his karting roots in the U.K. by taking on a field of 100 kart racers in the “Max vs 100” event at Kart Silverstone, staged yesterday. Racing identical machinery, the four-time F1 world champion started from the back and was tasked with working through the pack under rules requiring any driver passed by Verstappen to retire to the pit lane. Organizers estimated it would take him 30 laps, or 75 minutes, to contend for the lead. The plan didn’t play out as intended: Verstappen gained more than 60 places in the first lap, helped largely by a major pile-up that eliminated two-thirds of the field.
