Microsoft 365 Expands AI Sharing Benefit, But Trims Cloud Storage
Microsoft announced two changes to its Microsoft 365 Family and Premium plans that affect subscribers in opposite ways: expanded AI sharing, but reduced cloud storage. Starting soon, up to five additional members can share the plan owner’s Copilot and AI benefits, a shift from last year’s setup that limited AI features to the subscription holder. Microsoft’s support page previously said AI benefits “cannot be shared,” but an email to customers states the rollout will occur over coming months. At the same time, OneDrive storage will shrink: each member’s 1TB allowance will be replaced by a 2TB shared storage pool across the primary subscriber and up to five members. Existing subscribers will see the change on the first renewal after May 2, 2027, with no price reductions expected.
