Million passengers of 3 UK airports affected by cyber security breach

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said a cyber security incident affected the personal data of about 8.7 million customers across its three UK airports: Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands. MAG confirmed that approximately 8.7 million people may have been impacted, with information including email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registration details and postcodes. The company said bank and payment details were not involved and there was no operational disruption. MAG added that passenger safety and aviation security were never compromised, and that airport operations remained unaffected while customer parking services continued normally. The targeted system related to car park, lounge and fast-track bookings and in-airport Wi‑Fi sign-ups, according to the statement. MAG said it acted quickly, informed authorities and issued an apology.
