Missing Georgia girl who was subject of AMBER Alert found safe in Jacksonville
A missing Georgia girl publicized through a Levi’s Call AMBER Alert was found safe in Jacksonville, Florida, and two people were taken into custody, authorities said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced on Friday morning that 13-year-old Layla Alexis Nubian Carter had been located safely. WSB-TV in Atlanta reported the development, while the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it assisted the FBI in safely locating her in the San Marco area. The alert was issued Thursday afternoon after the GBI said Carter was last seen at 1 a.m. Thursday at a home in Baxley, about two and a half hours northwest of Jacksonville, with Giavannie Alexis Carter. The GBI had indicated she was believed to be in extreme danger. FBI Jacksonville and FBI Atlanta supported the GBI’s search. Officials were awaiting further details on the custody decision and potential charges.
