Mum slapped with nearly £1,000 in fines for term time holidays has 'no regrets'

Hannah Davison, a mother of four from Flamborough, says she has “no regrets” about taking her children out of school for term-time holidays, even after receiving nearly £1,000 in fines. She was fined £480 last year and expects this year’s penalty to at least double. Davison fears the family could end up in court in 2027 if another September break is taken. She argues the rules punish working parents, pointing to difficulties for hospitality and NHS staff who cannot easily take time off during summer holidays. Davison is calling for an allowance of authorised holiday days for children with good attendance.
