The U.S. military has stopped another merchant vessel attempting to breach the blockade of Iranian ports, a U.S. official said. The Gambia-flagged bulk carrier Lian Star ignored warnings overnight as it tried to enter an Iranian port, and was disabled by U.S. aircraft in the Gulf of Oman, remaining adrift; forces have not boarded. The blockade has stopped six ships, with one allowed to proceed since the start on April 17. A fragile ceasefire has held since April 7, and world markets have felt the strain from disrupted Hormuz traffic of oil, gas, and fertilizer. The blockage aims to limit Iran's shipments and weaken its economy, while talks on extending the ceasefire and Iran’s nuclear program continue. President Trump met advisers on Friday but has not decided on extending the ceasefire or reopening the strait.
