Intel to Power Windows 11 Gaming Handhelds With Arc G-Series Chips

Intel unveils Arc G-Series chips designed for Windows 11 gaming handhelds, using Panther Lake architecture to rival AMD's silicon in the portable segment. The lineup begins with Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme, each with 14 CPU cores—two performance cores up to 4.7GHz, eight efficiency cores, and four lower-power cores for everyday tasks. Graphics are handled by a built-in Xe GPU, with the Arc G3 offering a 10 Xe-core B370 and the Arc G3 Extreme upgrading to a 12 Xe-core B390 for higher frame rates, plus XeSS 3 for sharper rendering. The chips also support Wi‑Fi 7 Release 2, Bluetooth 6, and Thunderbolt 4, with ongoing Day-0 driver updates promised to optimize gaming experiences. Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 will use these processors, featuring an 8-inch 120 Hz touch display, 80Wh battery, two fans, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a UHS-II microSD card reader. Intel says MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ and OneXPlayer will adopt Arc chips, with initial devices shipping next month and broader rollout through the year. The Panther Lake devices reportedly show XeSS 3 delivering high frame rates; Cyberpunk 2077 ran up to 170fps in tests. The 1,920-by-200-resolution display supports variable refresh and up to 500 nits brightness, a punchy deck for handheld gaming. Computex in Taipei will reveal additional details, as Intel promises continued updates to keep Arc devices competitive in a fast-moving market.
