NRL 2026: Luke Keary blasts controversial call made by referee Wyatt Raymond, Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs, nrl news
Luke Keary criticized a controversial decision by referee Wyatt Raymond that allowed Cody Walker to score in the 65th minute of Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs. Speaking on Fox League, the former NRL playmaker said he was not disputing the try itself, but argued the play leading to it should have been stopped. Keary contended that after a pass from Brandon Smith, Rabbitohs five-eighth Cody Walker knocked the ball on before it was regathered by Euan Aitken, meaning the ruling should have called for a penalty rather than play-on. He added that Raymond appeared to forget the knock-on while deciding not to stop the match. A teammate—Ethan Sanders—was mentioned by another commentator as having tackled Walker before the ball, but Keary insisted the sequence still constituted a knock-on. The Raiders won by 10 points, and the commentary included remarks from Steve Roach about the referee being “in two minds.”
