Padres re-sign former Yankees 2nd-round draft pick infielder
Padres re-sign former Yankees 2nd-round draft pick infielder Nick Solak, extending the club’s organizational depth as he moves back to Triple-A El Paso. San Diego agreed to a new minor-league contract on Monday with the infielder/outfielder, who had previously been designated for assignment. Solak, 31, made four Major League appearances for the Padres in 2026 and produced one hit and one RBI in 10 plate trips. At Triple-A, he has posted a .325/.410/.482 line with 133 wRC+ dating back to the start of 2024, per MLB Trade Rumors. Earlier in his career, the former Yankees second-round pick spent time with the Texas Rangers, including a 2021 season with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs over 127 games. He is out of options and figures to be infield and outfield depth.
