Peete looks to stay hot in AFL after capping strong Double-A campaign
xCruzo Brief
Tai Peete picked up a chance to keep building momentum after his promotion to Double-A Springfield on Aug. 4: the Cardinals wanted him for the Arizona Fall League. Acquired in February as part of the trade that sent Brendan Donovan to Seattle, the 21-year-old is St. Louis’ top position-player prospect in the AFL. After ending the 2026 season with a .319 average and .849 OPS in 21 games for Springfield, Peete also has targets with the Peoria Javelinas, focusing on staying consistent. His path included a serious illness in late May that sidelined him 2½ months and led to a hospital stay in Georgia. He returned after about a week, rehabbed in Jupiter, Fla., and regained form.
