Punjab to make AI compulsory subject in schools
The Punjab government has decided to make Artificial Intelligence (AI) a compulsory subject in public schools across the province. The initiative is designed to prepare students for a rapidly changing technological world by teaching both foundational AI concepts and practical applications in different fields. Officials say AI education will strengthen students’ technology skills while also improving critical thinking and problem-solving. As part of broader digital education reforms, the government is working to upgrade computer laboratories in public schools and provide facilities needed for modern technology instruction. Teachers will receive training so they can teach AI fundamentals and explain how the technology is used. The goal is to support future employment and a technology-driven economy.
