A rare September nor’easter is developing, and forecasts for Berkshire County carry low confidence because of the storm’s uncommon timing and its difficult-to-predict track and intensity. National Weather Service meteorologists in Albany warned that anyone planning an outdoor event on Saturday should check conditions in the morning. The main impacts are expected to hit areas east and south of Berkshire, including the Boston metro area, the shoreline, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Rhode Island and most of Connecticut. In Berkshire County, the storm should mainly bring fringe effects, with rain starting Saturday afternoon—heavier and steadier south of the MassPike—continuing into Sunday.
