Second-half goals propel No. 2 Maryland field hockey to 4-1 victory over Delaware
No. 2 Maryland beat Delaware 4–1 on Sunday, finishing nonconference play unbeaten through 11 games. After a sluggish first half marked by turnovers and penalties, the Terps found momentum in the second half with three timely goals and extended their streak to a 11th straight win. The game in College Park was also “Graduation Day” for Maryland’s five seniors, honored in a pregame ceremony. Maryland broke the tie in the seventh minute when sophomore Jordyn Hollamon scored from the shooting circle. Delaware equalized with a centering pass and deflection involving Livia van’t Hek. Despite Maryland’s 6–1 shot advantage and goalie Jane Baldy’s three saves in the first half, the early control didn’t translate into a lead at halftime. Maryland hosts Big 12 action next after a week off, then faces ranked Utah.
