Siri Is Getting Ears on the Apple Watch: Here's What That Means for Your Privacy

A new Apple Watch beta arriving this week adds two controversial “audio intelligence” features to the Series 12 and Ultra 4: Siri Rewind and Siri Recap. The recall function lets users double-click the Digital Crown to pull up a text snippet of what was said in the previous 15 seconds; the snippet disappears if it isn’t acted on, and old audio is replaced and deleted unless saved to the Siri app. Siri Recap generates higher-level conversation summaries throughout the day, shown in the Siri app. The article also reviews existing Audio Intelligence tools like faster Shazam recognition and Sound Recognition for accessibility.
