Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Confirms 5GHz on Paper, but Telemetry Reveals 4.6GHz Reality

Telemetry from an engineering sample of Qualcomm’s SM8975 shows a peak clock of 5.01 GHz, as reflected in a public Geekbench listing for an iQOO 16 prototype (Vivo V2606A). But the same benchmark run indicates the chip spent most of the time at a sustained frequency around 4.59 to 4.60 GHz, not at 5 GHz. The article says this explains the results more than any architectural ceiling, describing it as a normal engineering-sample artifact rather than a regression. Geekbench also reveals a 2+3+3 Oryon core layout on TSMC’s N2P (2nm-class) process. Qualcomm has not officially confirmed the chip’s final name or specs.
