Star Trek Officially Changes Genre For Its Return to Deep Space Nine
Star Trek is officially shifting genres for its return to Deep Space Nine with a horror-themed four-issue miniseries, Star Trek: Holo-Ween II, arriving in time for Halloween. The project, written by Alex Segura and drawn by Bailie Rosenlund, is described by The Nerdist and features DS9 regulars such as Worf, Dax, Odo, and Bashir contending with a dark presence that has taken over Quark’s Holo-Suites. IDW released synopses for all four issues and revealed the main covers, with the first issue setting a Halloween mystery: a diplomatic summit is interrupted by a blackout and unsettling incidents as leadership is away. Segura, a lifelong Trek fan, says writing Star Trek has long been on his bucket list, marking a notable foray into the franchise’s horror-adjacent storytelling while DS9 fans anticipate a fresh, atmosphere-driven exploration of the station.
