Student Wins European AI Award: Aims to Turn Cold Storage Facilities into Batteries
xCruzo Brief
Two students from Aarhus Business Academy, Asger Wildenschild and Jonas Thuesen Jacobsen, won the EY AI Innovators Award at the European Entrepreneurship Championship in Riga for their company SIEMAS. The project uses AI to help industrial cold storage facilities become a more flexible part of the energy system by shifting electricity use to periods when prices are lower and renewables like wind and solar supply more power. The Foundation for Entrepreneurship says SIEMAS can cut cold storage electricity bills by up to 20% and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 10%. SIEMAS was developed through the Start Up Program and previously won Denmark’s student entrepreneurship championship in June, including the Green Tech category.
