Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPWD) Data Breach impacts 3 Million People - Security Affairs
Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPWD) disclosed a data breach that affected around 3 million people after a third-party vendor used for hunting and fishing license sales was compromised. The Texas agency, responsible for managing and protecting the state’s natural and recreational resources, said Texas Cyber Command detected the incident in the license system vendor. According to the notification, an unauthorized actor may have obtained driver’s license information, passport numbers if provided, email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses for more than 3 million Texas license customers. The agency said social security numbers, dates of birth, and financial details such as credit card information were not compromised. It also reported no indication that minors were affected or that any specific group was targeted. TPWD said licensing sales were not impacted and it is working with the vendor to add safeguards and enhanced monitoring. Affected individuals can enroll before September 14, 2026 for one year of free credit monitoring through Kroll.
