Toto Wolff admits 'peace' with Abu Dhabi 2021 with Max Verstappen admission

Toto Wolff says he has “made my peace” with the controversial finish of the 2021 Formula 1 championship in Abu Dhabi, when Max Verstappen overtook Lewis Hamilton for the title. Wolff pointed to a late Safety Car caused by Nicolas Latifi’s crashed Williams and the race director’s decision that allowed lapped cars to pass, leaving Verstappen—on fresher tyres—an unobstructed run into the final lap. Verstappen then defended the lead after diving down the inside of Hamilton. Wolff acknowledged Verstappen deserved the championship, while Mercedes has since struggled with Red Bull’s dominance in the ground-effect era.
