Qualcomm used its Snapdragon Summit to unveil two new flagship mobile chipsets: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Extreme model is positioned as faster and more powerful than the standard chip, and it sits above it in Qualcomm’s lineup—an approach the company said it hasn’t used before. Qualcomm demonstrated both using reference devices, test phones built by the chipmaker rather than finished retail products. The reference hardware included 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, a 6.73-inch AMOLED display, and a 4,400 mAh battery, with final consumer phones expected to differ in tuning and cooling.
