Troye Sivan Reveals How Madonna Responded to His Music Approval Request

Troye Sivan said Madonna made the clearance process for sampling her music far easier than he expected. Speaking in an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Sivan explained that he asked to use a portion of Madonna’s 2000 hit “Music” for his new track “Party.” He said Madonna responded “warm and supportive,” calling it “super easy” and “lovely” throughout the approval. The sample is on Sivan’s upcoming album, She’s the Best, due Oct. 9. Sivan had not met Madonna before, but they met at the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sept. 27 when Sivan and Charli XCX presented Madonna with the Best Dance award.
