Trump Names Intelligence Chief Clayton as AI Czar, to Head Task Force

President Donald Trump said Sunday he named Jay Clayton, Director of National Intelligence, as the administration’s AI czar and head of a newly created Super Intelligence Force (SIF). Clayton will coordinate federal efforts meant to keep the U.S. leading in “super intelligence,” and will oversee engagement with consumers, religious groups, AI companies, and other stakeholders, Trump wrote on Truth Social. The task force has 120 days to deliver a report assessing AI’s risks and opportunities and recommending what federal role is appropriate. The announcement follows a Wall Street Journal report and comes amid growing safety debate in Congress, with Clayton saying the “risk of not being first is high.”
