Vulnerable' SMEs to get discount on Government-backed cyber security scheme
xCruzo Brief
The UK government will offer a 75% discount on the Cyber Essentials certification program for vulnerable small and micro businesses. Under new funding of £2.4 million, the discount is expected to help about 6,000 firms obtain the minimum cyber security standard developed by the National Cyber Security Centre. Cyber security minister Liz Lloyd said SMEs are “particularly vulnerable” as cyber threats rise. The scheme will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until March or until the allocated money runs out. For qualifying companies, certification could cost as little as £80 and no more than £125, plus VAT.
