Walmart to finally start accepting Apple Pay and Google Pay

Walmart said it will finally accept Apple Pay and Google Pay at its stores, including Walmart and Sam’s Club. Beginning August 24, it will add “Tap to Pay” at select Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations, aiming to roll the feature out to all stores and clubs by the end of the year. Walmart plans to extend tap-to-pay to all fuel stations by mid-2027. The move comes after years of refusing tap-and-pay to promote Walmart Pay and Scan-and-Go, and follows the earlier failed CurrentC effort that ended in 2016. Walmart frames the change as giving customers more checkout choice.
