NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot completed a six-hour, 49-minute spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Sept. 1. It was the fourth ISS spacewalk in a month and the last one currently planned for Expedition 75. The pair installed a new navigational aid on the Harmony module and replaced a camera on the station’s truss. During preparations earlier that week, NASA said President Donald Trump called the ISS crew from Mission Control at NASA’s Johnson Space Center on Aug. 28, shortly after awarding the Artemis II crew the Congressional Space Medal of Honor and signing an executive order creating a U.S. Space Academy. Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk’s Crew-13 flight is now targeting no earlier than late September for a roughly six-month stay. The week also included ISS research, including work related to the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer and sampling microorganisms on the exterior.
