Wells-next-the-Sea chippy expansion plan battered by nearby rival

Plans for French’s fish and chip shop to expand into an empty building in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, have sparked an objection from nearby rival Platten’s. The quayside area has been dominated for decades by French’s and Platten’s, separated by a former arcade. Platten’s is contesting the proposal, arguing that the expansion would reduce the “diversity” of businesses in the area. The application was submitted to North Norfolk Council earlier this year, and a decision is expected at a later date.
