Windows 11 is getting a new Screen Tint mode, and your eyes might thank Microsoft
Windows 11 is getting a new Screen Tint mode aimed at reducing perceived screen intensity for users, expanding Microsoft’s accessibility toolkit. Microsoft is testing the feature in the latest Windows Insider preview build v29617.1000, allowing people to apply a customizable color overlay across the entire display rather than adjusting color temperature like Night Light. Screen Tint offers six preset colors or user-defined tints, with a dedicated slider to change intensity, and it is located under Settings > Accessibility > Vision. Microsoft says it targets users who experience eye strain or light sensitivity from bright, saturated displays and can be used alongside Night Light. The company also notes a tradeoff: enabling Screen Tint disables Windows Color Filters. The Insider build additionally includes other updates such as improvements to Bluetooth device recovery and refinements to the Recall experience.
