Women made up just 26% of hires in U.S. job postings that required AI skills, according to a LinkedIn analysis cited by Fortune, despite women representing 50% of hires in non-AI roles. The report says AI postings doubled since 2023 and that the average AI job listing offers about $177,000 annually versus roughly $80,000 for non-AI roles. It also highlights that women hold only 13% of tech-related C-suite positions across 27 countries at AI companies. Fortune notes women’s share declines further at senior levels: 20% of head of AI roles, 26% of director of AI roles (~$300,000), and 18% of member of technical staff roles (~$245,000). LinkedIn links part of the gap to lower adoption and higher skepticism among women, but says access to high-level positions remains a core issue.
