All Aboard for Festival of Trains at Santa Barbara Maritime Museum
xCruzo Brief
The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) will host a two-day Holiday Festival of Trains on Dec. 12–13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 113 Harbor Way. Admission is free if visitors mention “Trains” at the front kiosk. The model train display, previously at the Goleta Valley Library, includes Lionel Standard and three-rail O-Gauge trains, featuring scenes with miniature people, buildings, animals and snowy winter landscapes. Organized by museum staff and local collector Dave Halbeisen, the exhibit has been a community tradition for more than 30 years and is moving to the SBMM this year. Organizers say it connects railroads and ships—two parts of transportation history—while offering younger visitors a first look at model railroading.
