America Plans To Conquer The Moon Again. Here's What It Will Take To Stay - [your]NEWS

President Donald Trump’s push for a permanent U.S. presence on the Moon runs into a central problem: how NASA will keep astronauts alive, powered, and supplied hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth. NASA says a sustainable lunar base will require dependable electricity, radiation-protected shelters, communications networks, and systems to deliver food, water, and equipment. NASA targets returning Americans to the lunar surface in 2028, but building a permanent outpost for extended stays is expected to start in 2032 or later. The Artemis plan includes Artemis IV in 2028 and Artemis III next year, testing the Space Launch System and Orion. NASA also plans incremental capability development.
