Belmont Park Will Host Fall Starter Championships Day On Oct. 17

New York Racing Association officials say Belmont Park will host its expanded Fall Starter Championships Day on Saturday, Oct. 17. The program grows to 11 starter allowance races worth a combined $1.085 million at the newly redeveloped track. Races are for horses 3-years-old and up that have run for a prescribed claiming price since July 1, 2025, and are named for popular NYRA claim-to-stakes contenders. Entries close Sunday, Oct. 11. Six events offer $110,000 each, including turf sprints and 1 1/2-mile marathon action, plus a newly added “Cross Border” race slated for 2026. Other races range from $75,000 to $90,000 with lower claiming thresholds.
