Ben Jefferies will make a Commonwealth Games debut after receiving a late call-up to the England team in Glasgow. The 26-year-old Bristol & West AC athlete is set to run the heats of the mixed 4x400m relay on Friday, following the withdrawal of Charlie Dobson due to injury. Jefferies said he was contacted after messages from teammates asking for his number, describing the opportunity as a “second chance.” He previously missed the Glasgow selection deadline despite finishing runner-up to Matt Hudson-Smith at the Novuna UK Championships. His relay heats begin at 11.35, with the final scheduled for tomorrow at 9.20pm.
