Bitget Signs Cooperation Agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority to Explore Licensed Digital Asset Presence in Bhutan

Bitget signed a cooperation agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority to explore a licensed digital-asset presence in Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). Announced Aug. 6, 2026, the deal provides a framework for Bitget to establish a legal presence in GMC, prepare an application for a Financial Services Licence under the regulatory structure administered by the Gelephu Financial Services Office, and coordinate operational, regulatory, and ecosystem-building initiatives with GMCA. The cooperation is subject to required approvals. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said Bhutan combines long-term thinking, clean-energy advantages, and regulatory clarity. The regulatory regime in GMC is governed by the Financial Services Act 2025, requiring firms to obtain licenses for regulated financial or virtual asset activities.
